The Member of Parliament for Tano North constituency, Dr Freda Prempeh, is funding the completion of two abandoned toilet facilities in the area. The Middle Belt Development Authority (MBDA) began construction on the facilities in Yamfo and Bomaa, but work stalled due to funding challenges. The abandoned facilities posed a public health risk and left residents with no choice but to use deplorable old toilets, which were often used by rodents and reptiles as dens.

Dr Prempeh led a team from the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional office of the MBDA to inspect the two projects, which were about 80% complete. She emphasized the need to complete the new facilities urgently, saying that the environment around the old toilets was “very appalling”. Nana Peprah Afrane, the Samaanhene of the Yamfo Traditional Council, expressed appreciation for Dr Prempeh’s continuous support for the people in the area.

The MP also inspected work on the construction of a 100-bed capacity hostel at the Yamfo College of Health and appealed to the authorities to support the completion of the facility. At Bomaa, Dr Prempeh presented five packets of roofing sheets to support the construction of an office being put up by the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU). Mr Gordon Magotey, the Bomaa local GPRTU Secretary, thanked the MP for her assistance.

The MBDA has been experiencing funding challenges, and many of its projects nationwide have stalled as a result. However, Dr Prempeh’s intervention has provided a glimmer of hope for the completion of these crucial projects. The MP has shown that she is committed to improving the living conditions of her constituents and has earned the gratitude of the people she serves.
